Personally, I believe that my writing has a strong foundation. I am able to create ideas that are clear and to the main point, thesis, of my papers. The one thing that drags my grade down, usually, on writing projects is my attention to the drafting process. When it comes down to reading and revising my essays or writing projects in general, I fear that I am lazy in this sense. This is due to the fact that I give myself a short window to complete these assignments. I tend to leave works to the last day or so, if I am being honest, and do not have the time or effort in that moment or night to read through my work multiple times and make changes over and over again. Instead, I would give the paper a quick look over briefly, run the text through spellcheck, print it out and hand it in. If I were to change my process, which I intend on doing, and devote more time to the revisions and editing, I feel as if I would make great strides as a more complete writer. I give myself a false sense of completion after barely acknowledging papers once all of my thoughts have been expressed. This leads to small, mental and fixable errors costing me points and taking away from the clear and well-thought ideas that are being expressed. Typically, this process has not worked out for me in the past resulting in less than satisfactory grades, in my opinion, for the overall ideas of my writing. This is one area especially that I look forward in truly improving throughout this semester. The first step to achieving this goal that I have set for myself, is to start writing projects more in advance and allow my self to have that time to read through my own work with detail, making those necessary changes to enhance my writing.
